CONGRESSIONAL CLOSET QUEENS

A POSSIBLE ANSWER
It seems we’re missing something in our national dialogue lately. I’ve noticed a trend and responded to an incident here on HP just today. Jillian Barclay wrote a piece entitled “Act Like A Lady? Just What Do You Mean, Congressman West?”. This outburst by Congressman Allen West shows some signs of transgender envy. He, like many of his colleagues in the GOP, seem to be showing ever so slightly their true colors. They seem to know more about being a woman than their female counterparts. They know what is best for a woman when it comes to their own bodies, they know abortions are bad for women. Maybe out of revenge or jealousy they are insisting to take away those services provided by Planned Parenthood and Medicaid that benefit only women, like pap tests and mammograms. They are women trapped in men’s bodies and they are exacting their revenge. I wrote this comment to the above mentioned article:
“Jillian, Maybe you missed the point here I think Mr West was attempting in his own fumbling way to come out of the closet! He obviously knows more on how to be a "lady" then the Congresswoman. I think that there are many GOP members that are trying to come out of the closet since they know better than most women that abortion is a sin also. The GOP makes it pretty clear that they are a bunch of raving Queens trying to be women and failing miserably. So don't be too hard on those dears, they're just trapped in mens bodys. Peter”
COMING OUT
I believe our scorn is misdirected at the GOP, they are just trying to find themselves in this crazy mixed up world of ours. In 2006 the New York Times reported, “The presence of homosexuals, particularly gay men, in crucial staff positions has been an enduring if largely hidden staple of Republican life for decades,” this was in reference to GOP Rep. Mark Foley and the investigation into his homosexual activities on the Hill. On MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson show, Gay Activist Michael Rogers said, “the greatest kept secret for the GOP for the past six or seven years has been the extraordinary number of closeted men who have been helping to facilitate that anti-gay agenda.” Even "The Weeper Of The House" Mr. Boehner has shown an incredible amount of effeminate compassion as he slashes that Medicare budget. Weeping for all the old people that probably won't be around after that slashing.
THE TOP 5
As we can see there is a big closet up there on the Republican side of the aisle and it is just chock full of frustrated self deprecating Gay men trying desperately to prove their manhood. As of 2008 the top five GOP, ADMITTED “Homos” in Government were:
1. Mark Foley, U.S. Representative
2. Ted Haggard, Leader of the National Association of Evangelicals
3. Larry Craig, Senator
4. Bob Allen, Member of the Florida House of Representatives
5. Glenn Murphy Jr., National Chairman of the Young Republicans, Chairman of the Clark County Republican Party
I find it hard to reconcile the GOP (Gods Own Party) with their blatant homosexual escapades. This cruel and unusual self punishment may be their form of self flagellation, for their sins I guess.

And it isn't just gay men. There are plenty of closeted gay woman as well. And they all seem to be fighting gay rights which is rather counter intuitive.
I am pro gay rights. Why aren't gay representatives either in the closet of out. And my what a safe spot to be in as a gay member of congress you really can't be fired. All you have ot do is come out as a gay member of congress and your job is safe. Look at Larry Craig.
As a Floridian I must concede we have a lot of gay closeted politicians but they are on both sides of the aisle.

Vote Up and Interesting.
Hey Peter
I get a chuckle each time I see Marcus Bachmann on the news proclaiming that "barbarians need to be disciplined" He sounds exactly a closeted gay that want to be spanked. I wonder if there are any pictues of him dressed in leather and rubber.
Thanx, this was funny and far too true.

Calling it like you see it Peter. Wasserman-Schultz is a bimbo with very little class. She took it upon herself to go on the attack after he left, not before. That's the sign of a spineless jellyfish, not a lady.
Great Hub and a good answer for Progressive Jillian.

The problem I see with gay rights is this. If gay rights gives anyone more rights than I have, I strongly object. If it gives them exactly the same rights I have, I am all for it. Nobody should be discriminated against due to sexual preference, race, color, religion, or anything else, nor should they get more rights based on any of these things.
OP - Each to his or her own. But dammit man, don't bring your sex life into my living room or shove it in my face.
Peter, it would be interesting to have a gay and lesbian count on both sides of the aisle. We could place bets on the outcome, but would have no way of counting those still in the closet. I sure never thought of public office as a good hiding place for a gay person, but it looks like it is.
Great hub once again Peter. You probably are aware that there are and have been a lot of gays in Thai government. Wasn't one of the former Thai Prime Ministers a gay? The difference here in Thailand is that being gay is accepted in society.
Great hub, Peter, but I will refrain from commenting, except that I wasn't aware of things...my god, I have led such a sheltered life.
In September, 2010 The Montana Republican Party Platform wanted to ban homosexuality. They planed to make it illegal to be homosexual. Talk about homophobia. I don't know if they succeeded. I do know that Ron White says, "You can't cure stupid". And this is the modern world?
Peter, how do you spell hypocrite, Bacnmann? Did you know that Irene was God's message to Washington according to her? Did I say hypocrite? I meant flake.
I don't have a problem with Republicans being gay. My problem is with the hypocrisy of it all. They preach family values, and against gay marriage, while they are hiding in a marriage themselves to fain "the norm." I was a Republican until 2006, when I realized they are only pretending to have Christian values, to pull our vote. You are right, gnelson, Bauchman is a flake. Sorry God.

The real exposure I see in having closet homosexuals in high offices is the threat of blackmail. Depending on how desperate they are keep their homosexuality a secret, who knows what actions they may take? This could range from giving away national secrets to compromising on votes, to worse.
We all know our own head of Homeland Security is a lesbian, but she is out of the closet and that makes a difference. When out of the closet, this becomes nothing more than a lifestyle choice which may offend some, but the threat of blackmail is gone.
Perhaps these high level officials should be required to complete a form asking the question in regards to homosexuality. The form would have a YES box and a NO box. Checking the YES box would mean they are now out of the closet. Checking the NO box would mean they are not homosexual, and those caught lying would be immediately removed from office.
